Same alllllll day.... Break the routines! |
“Routine kills creative thought and restrict good ideas”
(RA)
Fact: our lives are mostly governed by routines.
Routine means ‘a regular way of doing
things in a particular order’ or ‘a
boring state or situation in which things are always done the same way’. By
definition, a routine doesn’t sound good but practically, routine have its own
value and goodness. Here for the purpose of generating ideas, I suggest that
you break some of your routines.
For example, some
of you always go to work at about the same time every workday. Why don’t occasionally you get up one hour or half hour earlier
than usual and savor the joy of driving to work slowly (or at least
don’t need to rush). Relax and be aware of the surroundings. Observe things
around you.
Another routine
that we may be familiar with is that we always drive to work using the same
route. To break this routine, I suggest you use a different route to work at least once per week. The
risk is that you may getting lost or come late to work or ending up in a more
traffic jam route. But the experience will give you new perspectives and may
trigger your mind to be more creative – and generate more ideas (I discovered
that there are more than 9 different routes to my workplace).
Routines may
hinder you from being more creative and unleashed more great ideas. I suggest
you begin to break some of your
routines. Hey, once in a while: Break the routines!
